White Sauce - Recipe for Pasta Sauce and Bread Spread

Add little fun to your breakfast or quick snack. Kids would love it and its healthy too 


Ingredients:

2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp Whole Wheat flour
1 cup milk
Salt as per taste
1 tsp white or black pepper powder
1/2 tsp Oregano


Preparation:

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat; stir in flour. 
  2. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes. Ensure the mix does not turn brown. 
  3. Gradually stir in milk and continue cooking over low heat, stirring constantly, until sauce begins to thicken. Season with salt, pepper and oregano.
  4. For a richer sauce, add a few tablespoons of heavy cream. You can also add grated Mozzarella / Cheddar cheese.
  5. Makes 1 cup.

Quick Bread Spread options using White Sauce


Add any or combination of below veggies to the white sauce, and apply it as spread.
Sweet Corn Kernels
Finely Chopped Capsicum
Shredded Cabbage (Finely chopped is also good)
Diced Mushrooms (Options)
Finely chopped Fench Beans
Finely Chopped Carrots
Finely diced Bell peppers (Yellow & Red)

White Creamy Pasta
Saute boiled pasta along with veggies of your choice in 1/2 tsp of Olive oil. Add the white sauce and mix well with the Pasta and Veggies. Add generous amount of grated cheese and season with black or white pepper powder and oregano.
